Taco Bell–Style Tostada

Instructions:

  1. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer until thickened.
  2. Warm the refried beans in a small saucepan or microwave until smooth and spreadable.
  3. Spread a thin, even layer of refried beans over each tostada shell.
  4. Spoon seasoned ground beef on top of the beans.
  5. Sprinkle with shredded cheese, then add lettuce, diced tomatoes, and onions.
  6. Drizzle generously with nacho cheese sauce and taco sauce.
  7. Serve immediately while the tostada shells are crispy.

Variations

  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Add sliced black olives or jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Use Mexican-blend cheese instead of cheddar.
  • Make it vegetarian by skipping the beef and adding seasoned black beans.

Tips

  • Warm the tostada shells in the oven at 375°F for about 5 minutes to maximize crunch.
  • Keep toppings ready before assembling so the shells stay crisp.
  • Use a light hand with beans to prevent soggy tostadas.
  • Serve immediately, as tostadas are best enjoyed fresh and crunchy.
