Sweet Bourbon Molasses Party Meatballs

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the meatballs and cook until heated through and lightly browned.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together all of the sauce ingredients until well combined.
  4. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and stir gently to coat evenly.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy and sticky.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or heat as needed.
  7. Serve warm with toothpicks or over rice.

Variations

  • Use grape jelly in place of part of the molasses for a sweeter, classic party-style sauce.
  • Add a splash of apple cider vinegar for extra tang.
  • Swap bourbon for whiskey or dark rum for a different flavor profile.
  • Stir in a little hot sauce for added heat.

Tips

  • Simmer uncovered to allow the sauce to thicken properly.
  • Stir gently to keep the meatballs intact while coating evenly.
  • Transfer to a slow cooker on warm for easy serving during parties.
  • Finish with a small splash of bourbon just before serving for extra depth and aroma.
