Snowflake Sugar Fritters

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing for the fluffiest fritters.
  4. Heat oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Scoop small spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying 1–2 minutes per side until golden and puffed.
  6. Transfer fritters to paper towels to drain briefly, then dust generously with powdered sugar while warm.

Variations

• Add cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom for a spiced winter flavor.
• Fold in a handful of mini chocolate chips for a sweet surprise.
• Add orange or lemon zest for a bright, festive twist.
• Serve with berry compote or vanilla glaze for extra indulgence.

Tips

• Keep fritters small to ensure they cook evenly and stay fluffy inside.
• Maintain oil temperature — too hot browns the outside before the center cooks.
• Dust with powdered sugar while warm so it melts slightly and clings beautifully.
• Serve immediately for the best texture — light, warm, and delicately crisp.
