Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Unroll the crescent dough and press it into a pie dish, sealing the seams to form an even crust.
- Bake the crust for 8–10 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- While the crust bakes, brown the ground beef in a skillet. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the taco seasoning and water to the skillet, then simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
- Spoon the seasoned beef into the pre-baked crust.
- Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Spread the sour cream evenly over the top.
- Add shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, and diced tomatoes. Slice and serve immediately.
Variations
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Use a spicy taco seasoning mix or add crushed red pepper for heat.
- Swap cheddar for pepper jack or a Mexican cheese blend.
- Add a layer of refried beans beneath the meat for extra richness.
- Incorporate roasted corn or black beans into the filling for additional texture.
Tips
- Press the crescent seams firmly to prevent gaps during baking.
- Allow the crust to cool slightly before adding toppings to prevent wilting.
- For a crispier bottom, preheat your pie dish in the oven for a few minutes before adding the dough.
- Brush the crust with melted butter and garlic powder before baking to deepen the flavor and enhance browning.
