Pillsbury Crescent Roll Taco Bake

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Unroll the crescent dough and press it into a pie dish, sealing the seams to form an even crust.
  3. Bake the crust for 8–10 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  4. While the crust bakes, brown the ground beef in a skillet. Drain any excess fat.
  5. Add the taco seasoning and water to the skillet, then simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
  6. Spoon the seasoned beef into the pre-baked crust.
  7. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Spread the sour cream evenly over the top.
  9. Add shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, and diced tomatoes. Slice and serve immediately.

Variations

  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Use a spicy taco seasoning mix or add crushed red pepper for heat.
  • Swap cheddar for pepper jack or a Mexican cheese blend.
  • Add a layer of refried beans beneath the meat for extra richness.
  • Incorporate roasted corn or black beans into the filling for additional texture.

Tips

  • Press the crescent seams firmly to prevent gaps during baking.
  • Allow the crust to cool slightly before adding toppings to prevent wilting.
  • For a crispier bottom, preheat your pie dish in the oven for a few minutes before adding the dough.
  • Brush the crust with melted butter and garlic powder before baking to deepen the flavor and enhance browning.
