Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth and well combined.
- Lightly roll out the puff pastry and cut into long, even strips.
- Spread a thin layer of the cheese mixture down the center of each strip.
- Arrange jalapeño slices over the filling and sprinkle with bacon bits if using.
- Fold the pastry over the filling or twist each strip tightly, pressing edges gently to seal.
- Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet and brush lightly with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan or seasoning if desired.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, until puffed, golden brown, and bubbling.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
Variations :
- Substitute pepper jack for extra heat.
- Add finely chopped green onions for fresh flavor.
- Drizzle with hot honey after baking for a sweet-spicy finish.
Tips :
- Keep puff pastry cold until ready to use for the best rise and flakiness.
- Do not overfill, or the cheese may leak during baking.
- For extra crunch and a golden crust, sprinkle a little shredded cheese on top before baking.
