Holiday Apple Cider Glazed Sausage Rounds

Instructions:

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage rounds and sear until browned on both sides.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the apple cider, brown sugar, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Pour the glaze mixture into the skillet with the browned sausage.
  4. Simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens and becomes syrupy.
  5. Add the butter and stir until melted, giving the glaze a silky, glossy finish.
  6. Transfer the sausage rounds to a serving platter and drizzle any remaining glaze over the top.
  7. Garnish with thyme or parsley and serve warm.

Variations

  • Add a splash of bourbon for deeper holiday warmth.
  • Use hot smoked sausage for a sweet-and-spicy version.
  • Stir in a spoonful of whole-grain mustard for extra texture.
  • Add thin apple slices during the last few minutes for added sweetness and color.

Tips

  • Sear the sausage well—color adds tremendous flavor.
  • Reduce the glaze longer for a thicker, candy-like coating.
  • Keep the dish warm in a slow cooker on low for parties.
  • If the glaze thickens too much, thin gently with a splash of cider.
