Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread the softened butter evenly over the surface.
- Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it generously over the butter.
- Fold the dough in half lengthwise and gently press to seal.
- Slice into 1-inch-wide strips.
- Twist each strip several times and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden and puffed.
- Whisk the glaze ingredients until smooth, then drizzle over the warm breadtwists.
Variations
- Spread a thin layer of softened cream cheese under the cinnamon sugar for extra richness.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom for deeper spice.
- Swap brown sugar for maple sugar to add a rustic maple flavor.
- Add mini chocolate chips for a fun dessert twist.
Tips
- Twist gently but firmly—tighter twists create more defined spirals.
- Don’t overbake; pull them as soon as the edges turn golden for the softest texture.
- Drizzle glaze while warm for a melt-in effect, or cool completely for defined lines.
- Serve fresh—these breadtwists are at their best warm from the oven.
