Crispy Garlic Butter Italian Hoagies

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if desired.
  2. Slice each hoagie roll lengthwise, leaving one side intact to create a hinge. Place the rolls open on the baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
  4. Brush the inside of each roll generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  5. Layer the ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone slices, and shredded mozzarella evenly inside each roll.
  6. Lightly brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil to encourage crisping.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the bread is crisp and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and banana peppers if using.
  9. Sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.

Variations :

  • Add thinly sliced red onion or roasted red peppers for extra flavor.
  • Spread a thin layer of pesto or tapenade inside the rolls before adding the meats.
  • Substitute smoked provolone for a deeper, more robust taste.
  • Use turkey or mortadella to customize the meat combination.

Tips :

  • Use fresh bakery-style hoagie rolls for the best structure and texture.
  • Do not overfill the sandwiches to prevent ingredients from spilling during baking.
  • Broil for the final 1 to 2 minutes for an extra golden, crispy top.
  • Wrap in foil for a softer texture, or leave uncovered for maximum crunch.
