Cinnamon-Apple Holiday Fritters

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir gently until combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  4. Heat oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop small spoonfuls of batter into the oil, frying 1–2 minutes per side until puffed and golden.
  6. Transfer to paper towels to drain, then dust generously with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.

Variations

• Add a splash of apple cider to the batter for extra apple depth.
• Stir in chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
• Replace cinnamon with apple pie spice for a warmer flavor blend.
• Coat the fritters in a thin vanilla glaze instead of powdered sugar.

Tips

• Use finely diced apples so they cook quickly and evenly inside the fritters.
• Avoid overmixing the batter — a light hand keeps the fritters fluffy.
• Keep fritters warm in a low oven while frying batches.
• Serve with maple glaze or caramel sauce for a festive finishing touch.
