Christmas Eve Cinnamon Crisps

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Brush both sides of each tortilla with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  4. Cut the tortillas into triangles, strips, or festive holiday shapes.
  5. Arrange the pieces on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they do not overlap.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until crisp and lightly golden.
  7. Allow the crisps to cool completely; they will continue to firm up as they cool.

Variations

  • Use puff pastry for a flakier, richer result.
  • Add a pinch of cardamom for a fragrant twist.
  • Sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar once cooled for a snowy finish.
  • Mix a little cocoa powder into the sugar blend for chocolate-cinnamon crisps.

Tips

  • Keep a close eye near the end of baking—thin crisps can brown quickly.
  • For extra crunch, bake an additional 1–2 minutes, but avoid overbrowning.
  • Store in an airtight container to preserve crispness.
  • Serve with caramel, Nutella, or cream cheese frosting for an indulgent dipping experience.
