Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Spread the seasoned potatoes in an even layer in the prepared baking dish.
- Scatter the sliced sausage evenly over the potatoes.
- Pour the heavy cream evenly over the potatoes and sausage.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the top.
- Return the dish to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve hot.
Variations
- Add sliced onions or bell peppers for extra flavor and texture.
- Use pepper jack cheese instead of mozzarella for a spicy kick.
- Substitute kielbasa or andouille sausage for a different smoky profile.
- Add broccoli or cauliflower during the last 15 minutes for a veggie boost.
Tips
- Cut the potatoes into evenly sized pieces for uniform cooking.
- Covering the dish first ensures the potatoes become tender before browning.
- Broil for 2 to 3 minutes at the end for crisp edges, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Let the bake rest for a few minutes before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.
