Cheesy Ranch Potatoes & Sausage Bake

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the seasoned potatoes in an even layer in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Scatter the sliced sausage evenly over the potatoes.
  5. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the potatoes and sausage.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the top.
  8. Return the dish to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve hot.

Variations

  • Add sliced onions or bell peppers for extra flavor and texture.
  • Use pepper jack cheese instead of mozzarella for a spicy kick.
  • Substitute kielbasa or andouille sausage for a different smoky profile.
  • Add broccoli or cauliflower during the last 15 minutes for a veggie boost.

Tips

  • Cut the potatoes into evenly sized pieces for uniform cooking.
  • Covering the dish first ensures the potatoes become tender before browning.
  • Broil for 2 to 3 minutes at the end for crisp edges, watching closely to avoid burning.
  • Let the bake rest for a few minutes before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.
