Berry-Burst Brie Jalapeños in Crispy Bacon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Stuff each jalapeño half with a cube of brie cheese, ensuring it fills the cavity evenly.
  3. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño tightly with a slice of bacon and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and the jalapeños are tender.
  5. While the jalapeños bake, prepare the berry sauce by combining berries, honey (or maple syrup), lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan.
  6. Simmer over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries soften and the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Remove the jalapeños from the oven and let them cool briefly.
  8. Spoon the warm berry sauce over each piece just before serving.
  9. Finish with a light sprinkle of cracked black pepper if desired and serve immediately.

Variations

  • Spicy-Sweet Upgrade: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the berry sauce for extra heat.
  • Nutty Crunch: Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the top for added texture.
  • Goat Cheese Swap: Replace brie with goat cheese for a tangier flavor profile.
  • Air Fryer Method: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes until bacon is crisp.

Tips

  • Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid irritation from the oils.
  • Choose thick-cut bacon for better texture and a more substantial bite.
  • Do not overfill with brie, as it will melt and can overflow during baking.
  • Serve immediately while the cheese is soft and the contrast of hot and cool elements is at its best.
