Backwoods Booger Bites

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground sausage, cream cheese, shredded cheddar, biscuit mix, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper.
  3. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated into a thick, dough-like mixture.
  4. Roll the mixture into small, bite-sized balls using your hands or a scoop.
  5. Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.
  6. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the bites are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Variations

  • Extra Spicy Bites: Add more jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne for additional heat.
  • Maple Sausage Twist: Use maple-flavored sausage for a sweet-savory balance.
  • Pepper Jack Upgrade: Swap cheddar for pepper jack cheese for a spicier, melty finish.
  • Herb Boost: Add chopped parsley or green onions for freshness and color.

Tips

  • Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution of cheese and seasoning in every bite.
  • If the mixture feels too sticky, lightly oil your hands when rolling the balls.
  • Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet to allow even browning.
  • Serve warm with dips like spicy ranch, honey mustard, or a smoky BBQ sauce for extra flavor.
