Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
- Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, melted butter, oil, and egg.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed—avoid overmixing.
- Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan.
- Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter.
- Add the remaining batter, then top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar.
- Swirl gently with a knife to create ribbons.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Variations
- Add a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts to the swirl.
- Mix in mini chocolate chips for a sweeter loaf.
- Use brown sugar in the swirl for a deeper caramel flavor.
- Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter.
Tips
- Don’t overmix the batter—this keeps the bread light and tender.
- Let the loaf cool before slicing to maintain clean layers.
- For a crisp, sugary crust, brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle extra cinnamon sugar right after baking.
- Store tightly wrapped to keep the bread moist for several days.
